Our Community

Nestled on the shores of Geneva Lake, the Village of Williams Bay, Wisconsin was founded in 1835 by Captain Israel Williams and officially incorporated in 1919. With a year-round population of nearly 3,000, Williams Bay is a charming resort community celebrated throughout southeastern Wisconsin for its abundant natural resources and picturesque surroundings. The population nearly doubles in the summer with seasonal residents and tourists who enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, local restaurants and walking on the lake path. Winters in Williams Bay offer ice skating, ice fishing, ice boating and snowmobiling.

Williams Bay is home to world-class landmarks and vital public institutions, including the Williams Bay School District, Barrett Memorial Library, Village Recreation Department, Yerkes Observatory, and the Women’s Leadership Center at Williams Bay.

Our vibrant civic life is sustained by dedicated organizations such as the Williams Bay Lions Club, Williams Bay Lionesses, Williams Bay Women's Civic League, Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy (KNC), the West Geneva Lake Rotary Club, and the Williams Bay Historical Society. Thanks to the strong collaboration between local government, civic groups, and residents, Williams Bay remains a proud, thriving place to call home.

Community Partnerships

We are honored to serve as a central hub, bringing together families, local government, civic organizations, and business partners. By sharing resources, talents, and services, we enrich our schools and uplift the entire community. Our students and staff are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support they receive from local partners every day.

We help students explore military, career, and post-secondary pathways so they can graduate with a clear vision for their future. Through robust partnerships with local business leaders, entrepreneurs, and the Walworth County Economic Development Alliance (WCEDA), students apply classroom knowledge and “test the waters” to see if their chosen path is a good fit through:

  • Youth apprenticeships and internships
  • Job shadowing and facility tours
  • Hands-on leadership training and extracurricular mentorship

This annual event gives back to the community that supports our schools, instills the value of civic duty, and honors the memory of Charlie Mestek—a local icon who epitomized selflessness.

In partnership with the Williams Bay Fire and Police Departments, Village Park and Recreation, Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy, Lakefront Enhancement Committee, Conference Point, Holiday Home Camp, and local residents, high school students and teacher chaperones fan out across the community to perform hands-on volunteer work including raking leaves and weeding gardens, washing windows and cleaning up trash, assisting local residents with seasonal maintenance tasks, and other fall cleanup projects.

A collaborative partnership between the Barrett Memorial Library, Williams Bay Park and Recreation Department, Williams Bay School District, and the Williams Bay Police Department. Together, the task force plans and hosts beloved annual family events, including Truckapalooza and Boo in the Bay.

Through partnerships with Gateway Technical College, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Whitewater, and neighboring school districts, Williams Bay students are able to personalize and design their own unique learning experience. With access to an extensive catalog of in-person and virtual course options, students can earn college credit in a wide variety of subjects. Through our dual-enrollment pathways, ambitious students even have the unique opportunity to earn an Associate Degree, tuition-free, before high school graduation.
